CND’s relationship with the Glastonbury festival dates back to 1981 and remains an important part of our campaigning calendar. Glastonbury 2023 saw fantastic engagement from festival goers all week at both our stalls in the Green Futures field and at the Pyramid Stage.
This year our campaigning focused on the climate and cost of living crisis, with visitors asked what they would rather spend £205 billion on – the estimated cost of replacing Britain’s current nuclear-armed fleet. The response was overwhelmingly in favour of spending the money on climate action and public services like the NHS and education instead of nuclear weapons. The display board showcasing people’s choices added a powerful visual snapshot of public opinion as the weekend progressed.

Back by popular demand was our festival t-shirt – which sold out again this year! We’re also thankful for the performing artists who supported us this year: Young Fathers, Fatboy Slim, Nova Twins, and long-standing CND supporter Beans on Toast – who gave a passionate speech in favour of nuclear disarmament during our annual Pyramid Stage speech.
