CND groups and supporters from across the country have been busy organising powerful commemorations to mark the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. With the threat of nuclear weapons being used at its highest since the Cold War, these vigils, candle floats, and services are a critical opportunity to raise the call for peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons. We’d like to thank everyone for their hard work in making them a success.
As we remember the hundreds of thousands of people who died so horrifically at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we must redouble our efforts to ensure that the catastrophic scenes witnessed on August 6 and 9 1945 are never repeated.
