An Anglican priest with a strong commitment to social justice, Canon Collins became the first Chair of CND and steered it through its early years. In addition, he was also a member of the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship, working with the Reverend Sidney Hinkes on anti-nuclear campaigns. He held the office of canon of St Paul’s Cathedral, London for 33 years and was one of the founders of War on Want. After his time as CND Chair, Canon Collins went on to play a major role in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. His life was one of remarkable commitment to progressive campaigning. |
