Victoria Brittain is a journalist and writer who has spent much of her working life in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. She is a former associate foreign editor of The Guardian, and has been a consultant to the UN on the impact of conflict on children and women. She is also a patron of CND Peace Education and has previously judged the programme’s creative writing competition. Victoria most recently supported CND at our December 2017 event outside the Ministry of Defence. She recollects; ‘One of many happy protest memories was speaking at the recent alternative Nobel Peace Prize.’ Victoria goes on; ‘For six decades CND has been the symbol of moral resistance to the deliberate forgetting of historic US war crimes in Japan in World War II. Those crimes against Japanese civilians should turn all governments towards the abolition of all nuclear weapons.’ |
