Join Saddleworth Peace Group with their laying of a wreath of white poppies at the foot of the Peace Pole in St Chad’s gardens, Uppermill (outside Uppermill library).
The Vice Chair of Saddleworth Parish Council will say a few words and members on the group will reflect on the significance of the white poppy.
White poppies are worn every year by thousands of people (sometimes alone, sometimes alongside red poppies). They have been worn in this way for over eighty years and are distributed by the Peace Pledge Union. White poppies represent remembrance for all victims of war and a commitment to work for peace.
White poppies are available from Saddleworth Peace Group – please email saddleworthpg@yahoo.co.uk.
