Hello I’m Sigrid, the Fundraising and Membership Officer at CND. I’ve just returned from maternity leave and I’m happy to be back reconnecting with colleagues, CND members, and supporters. Coming back into this role has felt especially meaningful because, over the past year, watching world events unfold has reinforced for me just how important CND’s work is.
Returning from maternity leave — and balancing the transition back into work alongside parenthood — has also given me a renewed appreciation for thinking about the future and the kind of world we want to build for the next generation. Working for an organisation committed to creating a safer, more peaceful world feels particularly important to me right now.
In my role as Fundraising and Membership Officer, I’m responsible for recruiting and retaining our members, organising fundraising appeals — because your donations are crucial to funding our work — and I also have the fun job of developing CND merchandise, which helps raise our profile and spread our message.
I have the privilege of working closely with the people who make CND’s work possible — our members, donors and supporters. One of the things I love most about my role is seeing the commitment and passion people bring to the movement. Whether someone has supported CND for decades or recently joined because they’re concerned about current events, every contribution, membership and conversation strengthens our collective voice.
I also want to say a huge thank you to our supporters for helping make last year such a successful fundraising year. That momentum has continued into 2026, with supporters helping us respond quickly to urgent events through our emergency No War on Iran appeal and backing our advertising van campaign to ensure our message reaches more people at this critical time.
As we look ahead, and as international tensions continue to rise, CND will continue mobilising rapidly through campaigning, demonstrations and emergency appeals in response to developments around Iran and growing nuclear risks. CND’s work isn’t slowing down — and neither is the need for a strong, visible peace movement. I hope we can continue to count on your support in the years ahead.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you want to get more involved in the campaign, or if you have ideas about membership, fundraising or merchandise — I’d love to hear from you.
