“It’s been a very busy first year and a half since I took on the role of General Secretary! I want to thank the fantastic support from the CND officer team and staff team. We’ve had to rise to a myriad of challenges – from the ongoing horrific conflict in Ukraine, to this government’s ongoing war drive, its nuclear expansion, increased attacks on our right to protest, as well as a reckless and dangerous leadership in the US that is right now dragging Britain into yet another devasting war in the Middle East.
I also want to say a huge thank you to the regions and local groups for all your tireless campaigning work. It has been really wonderful to meet so many members and supporters around the country – both in person and online – at local meetings, AGMs, national demonstrations and actions at nuclear and military bases.
I’m particularly excited by the new members who are joining us, as well as the volunteers who are helping us in the new CND office to help us expand our campaigning capacity.
We all understand how rapidly the nuclear threats are growing. But also the determined opposition to this from more and more people who want to stand with us to achieve our goal of nuclear disarmament.”
