Join us on Sunday 18th October to discuss Real security – lessons from the pandemic, hosted by London Region CND and the second day of CND’s Annual Conference.
We’re very glad to have Jeremy Corbyn MP, Professor Paul Rogers and Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz joining us.
We’ll kick off with a discussion on Real Security with Prof Rogers, Rokhsana Fiaz and Roger McKenzie (Unison assistant general secretary), with CND Vice-Chair Tom Unterrainer (Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation). Read Prof Rogers’s thoughts about the new thinking we need on security on Kate Hudson’s blog.
Afterwards you have the choice of workshops on security for the planet in Visions of a Green Future, with Green Party deputy leader Amelia Womack; for communities in Security for the Many, with Arthur West (Scottish CND Trade Union Network) and Matt Fawcett (Yorkshire CND); and Creative Campaigning, an artist-led session, reviewing anti-war artworks and sharing skills to produce impactful images. Learn the history of the CND symbol and fold your own peace crane. With CND’s Peace Education Officer Joe Jukes and artists Kirsty Reynolds and Hannah Kemp-Welch.
There’ll also be a chance to explore London Region CND’s online exhibition Time, Memory and Nuclear Weapons, curated by Hannah Kemp-Welch, as well as learning how to create a local peace trail, with Valerie Flessati (Movement for the Abolition of War).
And to finish, we will close with a keynote speech by Jeremy Corbyn MP.
The Sunday is open to everyone, but please register at Eventbrite.
