On Monday 17 November, CND brought together a powerful alliance of trade unions, MPs, faith groups, peace campaigners and civil society organisations for a united moment of action at Downing Street — delivering a strong, urgent message to the Prime Minister: Britain must rethink its disastrous nuclear expansion.

The hand-in brought a real sense of shared purpose and determination. Signatories to the letter spoke about the growing risks of nuclear escalation, the staggering financial burden of these jets, and the government’s refusal to subject this decision to proper democratic scrutiny. From trade union leaders to faith voices to grassroots peace groups, the message was loud and united: We need investment in people, not more weapons.

This show of unity marks a crucial step in building a broader, stronger campaign to reverse the government’s war drive – and our coalition is only growing.

We will continue to challenge nuclear expansion. We will continue to demand accountability. And together, we will continue to push for real security built on peace, diplomacy and justice.
