Each August the anniversary of the dropping of the first atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 is commemorated across the world. Join Salisbury CND to mark the occasion with a candle float ceremony. In the midst of growing threats of nuclear war, it is timely to remember and reflect on the previous use of such weapons.
We have lanterns from Hiroshima, decorated by school children there, together with a letter from the Mayor of Hiroshima. We will be trying to film our event and, with the help of national CND, we will put together footage of all candle floats in the UK this year. It’s an ambitious plan, so do come and help!
