Each August the anniversary of the dropping of the first atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 is commemorated across the world. Join Southampton CND to mark the occasion in Riverside Park by the children’s play area and miniature railway (next to the river – not quite where the map pin is).

Assemble from 7:45 pm for a prompt 8pm start. We are pleased that the Sheriff of Southampton, Cllr Valerie Laurent, will say a few words before our main speaker Sophie Bolt, Vice-Chair of CND. At about 8:30 pm the public will be invited to line up to launch paper boats containing a candle from the landing stage (cash donations). If it is too windy the paper boats will be laid out on the grass in the form of the CND symbol. The event will finish at about 8:45 pm.

We hope that you will be able to attend and to encourage your friends and family to come too.
