Yorkshire CND and Sheffield Creative Action for Peace host this meeting with Mitsuko Sonoda, an evacuee from Fukushima who has written extensively on the continued problems of the nuclear clean-up and lack of government transparency. Mitsuko was living in Fukushima with her eight year-old son at the time of the nuclear disaster and chose to evacuate. Alongside many of Fukushima’s mothers, she is working to keep children safe, share information, and convey the reality of living with radiation.
Keith Barnham (Emeritus Professor of Physics at Imperial College London, an expert in energy systems) will also be speaking. The event will be chaired by Dr Jillian Creasy.
