CND is organising a protest in Barrow – where Britain’s nuclear-armed submarines are built – on March 22nd – make plans to come along!
12 noon: join us for a leafletting action in the town centre;
1pm-3pm: rally on the High Level Bridge over Devonshire Dock, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.
Practical information
- Please come to the pedestrianised area outside The Forum in Duke Street (LA14 1HH) from 11:45 am onwards. The Forum is a council facility open until 3pm which includes toilets and a café. Please gather again outside The Forum at 1pm to walk with us with banners etc to rally for a couple of hours on the High Level (Michaelson Road) Bridge over the Devonshire Dock.
- How will you to get to Barrow?
Trains via Lancaster and/or Carnforth (from the south and east) arrive in Barrow at 10:01, 11:18, 11:54 and 13:02. Trains from the north arrive in Barrow at 10:41, 11:37 and 12:48. From the station bear left onto Abbey Road, cross and turn right. Walk along Abbey Road to its junction with Dalton Road. Turn left until you get to Portland Walk on your right. Follow Portland Walk to Duke Street. The High Level bridge can be seen from there.
The X6 bus from Kendal via Grange, Ulverston etc arrives in Barrow very near to our event at 41 minutes past every hour from 9:41 to 15:41. Click here for other buses. - If coming by car, the easiest nearby parking is either a free three hours for customers at Morrisons or four hours for £3 at the Atkinson Street car park. There are several other parking options.
