To coincide with the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine and with the Doomsday clock moving closer to midnight, folk singer Beans on Toast has returned with a timely protest song called “Against the War.”

Having just embarked on a UK tour, Beans will be performing the song live at Trafalgar Square, as part of the Saturday 25 February national demonstration for peace in Ukraine, organised by CND and the Stop the War Coalition.

Available on Bandcamp as a “pay what you feel” release, all proceeds from the sales of “Against The War” will go directly to the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. A limited edition T-shirt is also available, with 20% of profits additionally to be donated to the CND.

Beans said:

“Against the War is a protest song. It’s a song about peace written in a time of war. It wasn’t an easy song to write, but like everyone, the horrors of the Ukraine invasion have been at the forefront of my mind for the past year.”

CND General Secretary Kate Hudson said:

“As we mark the first anniversary of this awful war, voices across Europe are growing in their demand for dialogue and peace. Beans’ song gives heart and hope to our movement, working for a future of peace.”
