Join Yorkshire CND as they hold a public meeting in Sheffield on ways to lobby both MPs and the local council to formally adopt the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
This meeting is a way to share ideas on ways to support the new ICAN Cities Appeal which encourages local campaigning to influence global disarmament by calling on local councils to formally support the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. For 2019 Yorkshire CND are planning a two pronged strategy, lobbying both MP and the local council to formally adopt the treaty. Can you help?
60 MPs across the UK have already signed the ICAN Parliamentary Pledge, which commits parliamentarians around the world to work for their government to join the treaty, including five from Yorkshire. Yorkshire CND are making plans to encourage more MPs across the county to sign the pledge and commit to working to further the ban, but they need your help. Several MPs in Sheffield have previously refused to back Trident replacement, but are yet to sign the parliamentary pledge – come and find out how we can change that!
This event will be held at:
Central United Reformed Church, Room 3
60 Norfolk Street
Sheffield
Yorkshire

For more information see Yorkshire CND’s website, and email info@yorkshirecnd.org.uk for any enquiries.
Yorkshire CND will be organising more local meetings shortly, so please do get in touch if you can help, likely next targets are Leeds, York and Hull – but will work anywhere members are interested in campaigning or where we can find sympathetic Councillors.
